Last couple of weeks I was thinking about new projects for my blog. I used to concentrate on fashion but I slowly moved towards travelling . And I think it is time to bring the fashion back. There are so many wonderful Czech designers and I think they deserve more recognition. That is why I came up with this new project that I am very excited about. Together with my friend Polina who is a great photographer and make-up artist Jana, we are going to introduce some Czech designers on this blog and on Instagram. The idea is to show some of their creations on me. I am not a model but let me tell you. It is a lot of fun to become one while working on this project.
When I had this idea in my mind, I immediately thought about my two friends who are super talented. Lucka and Martina both do fantastic things and it was great to wear their dresses and fascinators. Today I am going to introduce you the girl standing behind Fascinátory LB, Lucka.
All the pieces you can see on my photos are original. Lucka creates them from vintage, recycled or reused materials because she cares about sustainability. All photos of her collection are not retouched or changed and shot on a group of people representing different ages, styles and sizes. This is refreshing, considering the fact that fashion industry follows a totally opposite path. Fifteen year old models promoting anti-ageing creams, skinny models on magazine covers. There is enough pressure from TV, runways and even social media so it is great to see designers and artists promoting natural beauty of all people.
The inspiration behind each piece
”I am walking through the beautiful Prague, listening to Ella Fidgerald and it starts to rain. At this moment femme fatale from a black and white movie appears in front of me. She is wearing a black fascinator and I know I have to make a piece like this.” This is how Lucka explains her source of inspiration. Once she has this vision, the hunt for the correct materials begins. It can take few months to find the correct sustainable materials but as you can see, it is worth it. The moment I tried the fascinator on, I felt like I travelled in time. I wish people still maintained this elegance. Sadly I feel that women barely wearing any clothes are considered sexier than those in elegant and classy dresses.
Elegant and timeless
This shoot was absolutely wonderful for number of reasons. It started this project that will hopefully continue and I will create a huge list of czech designers (huge thanks to Polina and Jana to make my vision come true). I also kicked it off with my friends, I have known Lucka and Martina for many years. And third of all, their style is so close to my heart. I love elegant dresses that don’t reveal too much but you still feel absolutely beautiful. What about you? What style is your favourite?
