Weekends are all about travelling. This time I went to Berlin where I had a chance to stay in a charming boutique hotel. The Monbijou Hotel Berlin has a perfect location, especially if you are travelling by train as I did. It takes only about 5 min by S-bahn to get to the Hackescher Markt stop and then you need to walk for about 3 more to get to the beautiful hotel. Super quick and convenient and you will save money for taxi which is great if you try to travel on budget.
Monbijou Hotel in the heart of Berlin
I didn’t do much research about the location of the hotel so I was pleasantly surprised about it. Not only it is close to the train station but you are almost literally in the centre of everything. Located in the middle of Mitte, mostly everything you need is in a walking distance. We discovered wonderful restaurants and cafes (I am also working on a small Berlin food guide), bars and shops just by wandering around. Alexanderplatz is 1 stop away by S-Bahn or 15 min by walk and it has all the shops you can think of. I was happy to find Monki there, which is a super vibrant store with clothes, that is still sadly missing in Prague. If you are interested in architecture and art, you are in luck. The Museum Island is just around the corner.
Rooms with a perfect view
The Monbijou Hotel Berlin has 101 rooms and suits and it is still growing. Even though the architecture is quite new, it still preserves the old yellow stone building from 1894. You could never tell this used to be a textile factory. Our room was absolutely adorable and the view from our window breathtaking. I would choose boutique hotels over the chain hotel any day. You can see that the designers were really thinking about the guest and wanted to make it as comfortable as possible. If you arrive on a rainy day (as we did), you can relax in your room with flat screen TV or head into the gym or sauna.
The whole package in Monbijou Hotel
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and in Monbijou Hotel Berlin, they know how to start your day it right. Fresh juices, cereals, pancakes, eggs and even miso soup. You will leave the breakfast full and super happy. You can also enjoy a drink or two in the lounge bar Petit Bijou, day and night bar Bijou or on the rooftop terrace. The terrace is an absolute must, there is nothing better than having a glass of champagne while watching the historic buildings of Berlin.
Luxury experience in Berlin
As you can probably say, this boutique hotel is a gem. We stayed only for 2 nights but I can imagine living in this place for a week. If you are looking for a luxury experience, book the Monbijou Dom Suites with separate sitting area, king size double bed, bath and the view towards the Berlin Cathedral and Museum Island. The hotel also offers Concierge service and limo service so you can really go big here. Mounbijou Hotel Berlin is part of the Berlin-based Ming Hotels as well as the internationl hip hotels. Partner hotels include Mimi’s Hotel Soho London or Mimi’s Suites Soho so I know where I will be staying when travelling to London.
