Black is the new black. If you frequently watch fashion shows you are aware of the fact that designers can't leave black alone. To be honest how many of you own a little black dress? I have at least seven of them and I am not the biggest fan of black colour. So what is it about black that attracts so many people?
Most of us associate black with authority, elegance and sophistication. Black Mercedes, tuxedoes, judges´ robes...they all scream power and prestige. Therefore, it is a common choice for people attending formal events or working as business men/women. Additionally, black is usually called a safe colour because you cant really go wrong with it. Sadly, I found out it could quite easily become a boring colour. People feel unnoticed while wearing it and forget to make any fashion statement. I am not saying everyone is fashionista (I proudly admit I am) but your clothes should reflect your personality. And what does a black T-shirt, hoodie and jeans say about you? That you probably dont have a lot of imagination. Dont get me wrong. I absolutely adore black lace dresses or velvet tops. I am just saying that sometimes you might end up looking a bit dull if you stick up with black colour for so long. But I might be just a little bitter because black outfits remind me of my days at university of law back in the Czech Republic.
Before I wrote this article I asked several people about their opinion on black outfits. Surprisingly, most of them praised its ability to make you look thinner. Black can help you hide some of your imperfections and make your bum look smaller but you should remember it's not a miraculous colour. If you are normally a size 16 and you end up wearing black slimming crop top and super short skirt you are going to look like you borrowed the clothes from your little sister (that you just ate). So careful there!
